My last around the world plane ticket cost me 700 quid back in 99 and it gave me freedom and six destinations to stop off at of my choice. For an extra 50 quid I could change or add destinations if the companies on my ticket flew from there. 15 grand - fuck that !!!!
But hey ho,each to their own and for some it will be a trip of a lifetime. some people would not drop to that price for buying a pen or a watch !!!!!

Oh lonewolf, stop being such a negative wet blanket !! If valdez wanted to do it by vehicle then he could do it even with the current restrictions. With vigilence and a positive mindsetneverything is doable even with covid ! There is no such thing as not possible :-) in a probably crowded vehicle to one of the most populated countries in the world, I hope whoever goes has a huge stock of masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and make sure they've got good health insurance because their going to need it. talk about taking their life in their hands. I wont even travel in a bus to the next town never mind a country far away.

Sorry old chap,as your post followed that of valdez's I thought that your response was to what valdez said and not to the original post about going on the bus and if that was the case then please accepy my apologies.
To go on a crowded bus let alone any public transport does not particulary appeal to my safety instincts either at this moment. !!

I dont travel on public transport in the good times never mind covid. do you remember the advert where the guy sneezes and the germs shoot out of his nose and go down the bus in a big cloud of I hate to think what, well that put me off going on public transport for life. if I cant go somewhere in my own car I dont go there, where I live a car is a necessity not a luxury.

The picture is of an Ex public service bus turned into a coach, I hope they have done something about the seats because it would be a bit of an ordeal otherwise.

Assuming its a 53 seater x £15000each = £795000 on a second hand bus....Ar that they could buy a brand new coach with at very least £600000 spare. Id want to know where the rest is going. I smell a rodent.

I smell a rodent. They wouldnt be able to fill it with passengers, they would need as much space again for luggage. Plus they have to pay for 70 nights accomodation for everybody on the bus in some (no doubt) bug ridden hostels.

Yes thats what i thought.Considering you can travel from New York to San Francisco 2900 miles on greyhound bus for $219 dollars plus another 200 for motel and food why would anyone travel 20,000 km /12000 miles in an old bus on some of the worst roads in the world and worst accommodation for the majority of the trip. I think theyll struggle to fill a couple of seats on the bus even without covid.

I know what i would rather do. Last Mustang I hired from Alamo was in Florida two years ago and it cost £36 a day.
