I enjoy very much going into a beautiful lake with stunning surrounings and swimming around for a while. I probably swim an average of one to two miles each time and enjoy swimming breast stroke slowly with my eyes closed listening to the rippling of the water with the sun on my face.
Every now and then I will do a five minute blast of front crawl to either speed me up towards a destination or just for the exercise.
I swam for two hours on tuesday and four hours yesterday and had every intention of doing another two today, but obviously I over-did it yesterday so managed just over an hour before thinking that my shoulders were aching a bit more than safety allows.
I enjoy swimming in the sea too,and doing a bit of snorkling at the same time to observe our under water neighbours !
What sort of swimming do you enjoy ? Are you a big swimmer ? Do you just like jumping in to cool down?
Without getting too dirty, let us know what your pleasures are in the water !!!!
Love and light to all
fly xxxx

Swimming is not for me. I can swim, but for me it's something you do to prevent drowning!

I am starting to see a connection here and understand why you are still stuck on a little island :-) BB and Grace if our paths cross and geographical synchronicity allows it,I shall be more than happy to help you learn how to swim xx
Swimming can not only be great fun, relaxing and good exercise but could also help save your life one day or even help you save a life one day, well worth learning I reckon. When you are out there in the middle of a lake ( like I have been the last few days ) and there is no one to bother you and all you can see are beautiful forests all around you it is very peaceful and as productive for the spirit as a meditation xxxx

I love swimming. The only access where I am is a municipal pool, which is not my thing at all, especially these days, which means that I'm really unfit now. Still, I'll hopefully get to the beach soon, and even if I can barely swim a stroke now, I'm good at floating.
My ex is in Portugal for the year, and yesterday he sent me a photo of the coastline, he had cycled there, leaned his bike against a palm tree and the bay beyond, basking in tropical looking sunshine, was glorious. When the photo arrived I was damp, cold and looking out of Iris into a wet, grey day. You can go off people. 😂

Have decided that over the mornings this week that I want to swim at least twenty miles. I did about four miles this morning and three a day for the two days before hand so am on track if my muscles allow it !!
I have to go and do a few days work next week after I have got my twenty miles in,and am then afterwards going to try and do the entire lengh and back of lac de st agnan in one hit which will about 6 miles. I am fairly confident that I am ready to set my new personal record and look forward to the challenge. xxx

No,I am not the man from atlantis, who was patrick duffy if I remember correctly !!!!
Have not been for a swim since the last post on here where I will put my hand up and say that I fell a couple of miles short of my aim of the twenty miles over the week. I ended up doing about eighteen but on the penultimate day I got quite a bad cramp whilst in the middle of the lake, which was not a problem as I had enough upper body strength to get back safely, but the following day I could feel the left calf was still very tender so decided against going for the full four miler. Better to be alive and failed than dead and failed !!
Hopefully I will get to go for one more lake swim this year before the ice age kicks in though it may be a quick one !!
