Last thing I would want to do is go abroad unless there was a compelling reason and that wouldn't be to dangle my toes in the Med Last year they let people go on holiday and look what happened |

Their vaccine programme is well underway and most Texans never ever leave their State much less the USA in the whole of their lives. Plus they still have a total international travel ban in place. In many ways their geography means they are self quarantined by the sheer distances involved in getting about |

There is always some "expert" we have never heard of before wanting to get their name in the paper. If this pandemic has demonstrated anything its that, so called, experts are buy one get one free. "There has been no evaluation of mass testing programmes,"........... er could that be because we have never needed one before? I dunno? just a thought? |

They - the current government - are giving away these lateral flow tests to all and sundry. The sole reason being that they have to get rid of them, because they have literally millions of them ordered and paid for, costing billions of pounds of public money, and many of the places they were meant for have stopped or refused to use them because, in the hands of untrained persons, they have a success rate of about 46%. This is less than the law of averages where you or I sit down and point at people going past: 'You have it!' and 'You don't have it!'
The danger lies in the many people who the test diagnoses 'negative' who are actually positive. So they can go in and freely infect other people, believing they are safe. This is why very many care homes banned this test for visitors, and preferred to ban visitors instead. It would only take one or two to be falsely declared 'negative' for the virus to quickly spread through those most at risk.
