Maajid Nawaz just made a very good point on LBC. If the economy crashes, we won't have the financial means to look after the infected.
That said, the NHS was already in trouble, so what difference would it make?
This is the very best case possible for Universal Basic Income.

If this was engineered its a very effective virus for population reduction taking out the highly dependant ,weak and vulnerable in main.It also can render males sterile,existing foetus in the first trimester exposed to maternal high fever may suffer developmental issues.The means are now available, to assemble the equipment and knowledge required by intelligent anyones anywhere to concoct this tiny reaper.Tragedy aside ,this may reboot the whole global mindset with regard to how we manage the planet and cooperate with each other.

Governments dont go bankrupt,they just print money or borrow it.Whatever crisis there us will be shirt lived and people dont need long term care,they either recover or die in a few weeks. If there is a vaccine developed which is likely,it will change.The faster they act to stop the spread the less the economic hit.If they keep doing stuff piecemeal it will limp on for 3 or 4 months and cause financial hardship for people and cost the government more money.They should lock it all down hard now and get it over with.Stop people gathering,close schools and offices, Stop civilian use of railways,underground and motorways,close the air space,shut the ports and airports to all but freight and get the army on the streets to enforce it.Above all else people need to know the government is aggressively on top of it to protect them and theyll put ip with the inconvenience. If the government looks inept people will start taking things into their own hands and that leads to all kinds of scenarios we dont want to explore. |

Sorry i dont do conspiracy nonsense,if i did id say theres something awfully suspicious about the Salisbury 'Russian'incident and its proximity to PD and thats its known to have conducted covert nerve agent tests on the population in that area in the past. Covid-19 was detected in wildlife and domestic pets and livestock hundreds of square miles around the epicentre. Its a virus,theyre opportunistic thats why the Chinese have been testing wildlife since the last SARS Coronavirus in 2003-4 and H5N1 Avian flu and Swine flu epidemics there. |
