well i would like to know more facts on this putting christmas cards in boxes is not breaking rocks with a big hammer they intviewed a bloke on news English man a reporter i think who was in this prison and he said when he was there you asked to do it an d got a small payment to buy soap, toothpaste, biscuits and i think the idea behind some prisoners working is not a bad idea i am not on about slave labour but working so they can buy extras anybody can write a not an say things but must admit china is not best on human rights

It just said on the radio it's not optional work. There's a fair few (documented) consequences if you don't work or work fast enough. Such as being hung by the wrists.

It depends. Many prisoners are sent to prison for political reasons. Those are the prisoners most likely to be educated.

80 million speak English as second language in China,thats far less than 10% of the population.250 million are learning it in the education system.
I should imagine at least one or two prisoners speak English.
Its not the first time its happened,I just find the story a tad far fetched.

Possibly its a stunt to raise awareness about the situation in china but it was in a presumably sealed imported box of cards.How else can a victim of abuse reach out without attracting attention from their abusers?It does seem focused,to be sent to a particular human rights journalist in the UK.It may help someone or simply raise awareness of the slave labour that fat cat westerners use quietly to produce goods that supply the consumer machine.Maybe half the toys imported have similiar origins though.Who is really checking,who really cares of the import agents except about the profit margins?

The vast majority of people dont think about it or care so long as they can get their mobiles and clothes etc dirt cheap.Just like buying meat,they want it but they dont want to know about how its produced or the slaughtering.
Our Government doesnt give a shit its handed multi billion pound contracts to China.
If they were even remotely bothered theyd do something
Re the 2 million uighur Muslims incarcerated in re-education (prison) camps and the trouble in hong kong and the destruction of buddhist temples and imprisonment of monks.

Its all coming unravelled apparently. Little girls picture all over the newspapers, would that be your first reaction? selling it to the papers?. and now people are starting to question the details and suddenly the note is no longer available for inspection.
