I was getting 0834 numbers calling me.if you pick up, they take 30p off your credit.Ignore all calls for 4 rings as they end the call after 4 rings.Somehow though even though I only made that mistake once, they seem to now be able to take 30p just by calling my number. How they got my number is a concern as its a pay as you go top up sim.A company I have dealt with must have passed on my number and if they did that what else has been passed on I wonder.

I get very few cold calls. The best one is for energy. When I tell them I am off grid they can't hang up quick enough.

Used to enjoy playing up the scumbags, pretending to be deaf and mishearing or giving stupid answers especially the Indian centres as they'd try to persist. Best was saying 'thought you were the undertakers as the wifes just died', had one girl in tears apologising.
All okay until I had a bump on my Harley, no damage to mine but the arse who I hit didn't want to exchange details as I don't think daddy knew he'd borrowed the car. Anyway to cover my ass, reported it to plod and to my insurance (Swinton). As said, no damage or injury to me or bike yet a week later started getting ambo chasers calling me, dozens and dozens including indians call centres. They did not understand the words of sex and travel.
Got onto BT as the TPS couldn't do ought and they sold me a call blocker phone, magic kit. They don't get through unless they speak and press a button so that's the computer ringers stuffed for starters, a lot don't bother and any twat who does can be barred by me from ever calling and getting through. Up to 2000 wankers can be blocked. Still mioss taking the piss out of the indian call centres tho.

The boy gets regular calls from all manner of cunts trying to sell him all sorts of fuckin rubbish, everything from utility suppliers to funeral plans. He listens intently, makes all the right noises & keeps them on the phone as long as he can, then hits them with the punchline " I'm sorry, I'm only 15, think you got the wrong number" Most of the fuckers don't even say goodbye before the line goes dead!...😝👍

Just to add if you are applying online for anything, have a pay as you go phone specifically for giving out to random places online.

Another option is to say they are in prison

I gave my phone number to the hospital recently so that they can call me if there are any problems with my sister. Coincidentally, I have started getting "You have been in an accident" calls from numbers which don't show up. I have to answer the damn things too, as unless I'm sitting next to my sister I have no way of knowing whether or not they are important. 😠

My mother (85) used to get calls, when she answered them they would ring off as if she had just missed the call. So she would ring them back and say "did you just call me?" They were absolutely charming, and sooooo helpful, kept her talking, asking her questions, she was loving the attention probably. Anyway they finished up saying they thought it was probably Sarah who phoned her but she will phone back no doubt. Goodbye, really nice talking to you. Then the phone bill comes and she was charged £16 for that call. And there were several more on that same bill. So a strict telling off not to ever phone back. But how many other old ladies don't have a bossy git of a son like me telling them off? There is a different scam I would like to tell you about. My son, 22, lives in a cashless society like all the young kids these days. They tap for drinks, a costa, lunch, bus fare, etc. Their bank statements are about four pages long, not that they ever download them or print them off to check them. So here is the scam, you introduce a bogus charge for a small amount, say £4.99, in the middle of every month and it just gets lost among all the other charges and they don't notice it among all the others. And then you do it for thousands of people. Beats working for a living doesn't it? Even better if your address is a caravan in a layby on the A303 near Salisbury.

Three times the hospital has got a telephone number from me. My number is always kept very private, I don't hand it out to anyone. If I'm told to give a valid phone number before I can access something, I usually use my deceased Mother's old land-line as the computer will generally accept it as valid.
Each time the hospital has got my real number, within one or two days I get spam calls from ambulance chasing firms. I get no spam calls otherwise, and I know other folk who have had the same experience.
