I actually don't like Christmas, people think I am extremely odd when I say it so I tend not to. Its fake, a marketing scam to get us to spend money on tat and watch a lot of utter rubbish on TV

We don't celebrate christmas but do go to a family dinner on boxing day. There are children involved and there is time enough yet before we tell them why we think christmas is shit.

I have now worked out what I hate most in the way of unnecessary seasonal tat Christmas jumpers!

I don't know what the Asda buyers were on, but it was pretty strong stuff. New additions are a mixer, a sewing machine, and a new contender a pig on skis. Also available are pink flamingos and watermelon slices. How festive....

Bah humbug indeed , why not just live and let live. When one lives in a christian country that celebrate christmas one is going to have both commercial and spiritual sides of it all around you at this time of year.
In my reality christmas comes and then goes and apart from that it get hardly any brain space from me at all. I prefer to give a bit of thought to solstice and to just enjoying every day no matter what people call that day !!
I quite like the fact that there is an excuse for families and friends to get together and share some love. Bit like the french do every week. This is one of the most importand differences between the brits and the french in that family time is much more practised here :-)
Anyhow merry christmas, happy honica, happy solstice or just have a great winter. Who cares what the others do,just do what makes you feel good :-)
And even if you do not practise something, you can still smile and appreciate the love and kind thoughts of someone wishing you a happy whatever as they are just being nice and deserve to be treated nice in return.
love and christmas lights to all xxxx

Bah humbug indeed , why not just live and let live. When one lives in a christian country that celebrate christmas one is going to have both commercial and spiritual sides of it all around you at this time of year. If I could fuck off to an island or sit in a quiet wood away from it all for 365 days a year I would. It's the falseness and commercial side of it all which gets rammed into my head each time I have to shop, listen to media or watch the box. It's the stupid peeps who scrabble for goods in the big stores, the 'must have' food and 'must have ' toys for their spoilt kids and the price of everything with peeps going into debt for one soddin day a year manufactured by some ancient Tolkein, used as a tool for centuries to subligate the masses by a few who sit happily at the top of the pile.
One can't escape it in this country. It's the hype up to the day then the whining after then it's soddin easter and it starts again along with sales, black soddin friday and so on.
As a kid I didn't get a lot, Christmas dinner was special in so much as it was simple home prepped healthy fare with the main extravagence being the brandy sauce. It was a family ocasion where friends popped in but that's changed in this country and money / greed rules.
Bah Humbug.
As you're so cheerful on it I will send out a card to keep peeps happy
