Brexit and world wide recession seem imminent, throw in the sabre rattling loons and environmental apocalypse.
Whats a reasonable depth hole to dig as bomb shelter and how many cans of beans are too much.

I'm not digging a bunker, but a bit of canned food put by is prudent. Oh and plenty of stockpiled veg oil to eat and run the van on. Diesel not so much, as you can't fry in diesel...

Phew thanks guys -I though I was the only one, Sometime it seems the old certainties are falling apart.
I have reached the old ststutary retirement age of 65. The goal post has been moved to 66 – not that it matters much to me now,
Im no longer running down the track with a train bearing down.
Now its more a case of paddling in a sea of time and straining to see the waterfall.
You know your taking death seriously when you delete all the porn and links off your hardrive. Hahha should have started a thread with that subject line.

If you have the room, stashing some long-life food and drink makes perfect sense. You'll get no interest leaving money in the bank, and I don't imagine that prices will go down post-Brexit, so spending on things that you will definitely need is a good move - with the added bonus of giving you some insurance against unforeseen events.
Some years ago I bought a stack of pasta, in case of crash, Mrs Boaty then bought a stack of pasta sauces to go with it. We clearly have different ideas of what a crash will be like :-)

Tinned food lasts way longer than the best before date on the can. Properly kept a decade or more. cricket said we are in for a very hard winter, so stocking up for a month or so might be a good idea. The brexit doomsters say there will be food shortages. I think there might be, but not because of brexit. Both the EU and US have suffered weather extremes this summer. Between them they are pretty much where most of our fresh food comes from. If it hasn't grown, we can't have it!!

Don't see why there should be any shortages post brexit, if it ever fuckin happens that is! Other countries aren't going to stop selling us stuff just cos we're not in the club, they don't only supply the EU now do they? Politicians like to stir up this shot to give themselves cover for their covert business. They don't want to come off the euro gravy train they've all been riding on, so they feed us a load of bullocks to cloud the real issues. Public have been baying for brexit for 3 yrs now, soon as Boris says we're coming out for sure they all want to fuck about again. Get on with it & let the cards fall where they may. 5 yrs from now people will be saying "remember all that brexit crap we were flapping about?" & life will go on....

I think the weather extremes in the EU and US might cause shortages. If the crops don't grow, they aren't there to be sold to us. bigbear67 I agree the MPs don't want to fall off the gravy train.

Don't think any adverse American weather can be blamed on brexit tho can it?😃

No it can't, but it can create shortages. The MPs might blame weather related shortages on brexit though...
