We enjoyed our third or fourth night of fresh raspberries for dessert at supper. These are the Autumn-fruiting ones, and are in full fruit now. They go down really nice with a drop of yogurt or custard...

Perfect weather for hoeing ! 2 hrs was enough for me though , but looks like good weather for hoeing action the rest of the week so I shall spread the enjoyment out over the week More sedate activity shortly , pricking out lettuces and mizuna for the polytunnle . Too wilt inducing right now for the youngsters.

Well I have been in the kitchen all day today being Mrs Beeton Made apple pie filling, sweetcorn pudding, prepped and froze carrots and sprouts, roasted carrots for dinner, did my boy veggie burgers and chips, have got mango dehydrating in the oven, the birds have had a feast of various things, I've got courgettes diced ready to make chutney tomorrow, more courgettes ready to do bread and cake tomorrow, I had fresh thyme and chives which I've frozen in ice cube trays in olive oil (which was a fiver for a big bottle in Asda a while back) and I did some mushrooms with garlic and added a jar of Ragu sauce which is much fancier than my usual 'bung in a tin of chopped tomoatoes' approach and did that with some pasta which was also from the Fareshare thing and is also fancier than the big 3 kilo bags I usually buy in Farm Foods. I also got some fancy cat food in Asda, reduced because the boxes were squashed so the cheeky cat who moved himself in has had two pouches of something he obviously liked because he spent four hours snoring on the sofa after he'd finished it Lol.

Been busy doing nothing this week😊escapee chicken, she d moved in with the goats, thought we d lost her,but she was in the back of the goat house, sitting on a couple of eggs, back with her flock now after a lot of muttering!and dog, blocked up all known routes, but the chunky little sod must be a shape shifter!a head butting goat with a sore leg.more weeding, too hot to don spraying gear.today called in at a local community garden, lovely little spot, very welcoming,of course I couldn't help "doing a bit" and a few samples.think we 'll be going back

Today, these little ladies joined my lone chicken.she was a bit lost since her best mate took ill.so darling daughter of mine tempted me with 2 silkies.the black one is grace(jones,it's the hair thing🙂)and ginger.they 've been separated from the original occupier, but lots of muttering going on out there.I'll give them a few days to get acquainted, then see how they get on Just realised, there's no black one in the pic!the little one that is black is a different breed, lol,I've definitely got a black one.oh well.I'll get some pics when they 're settled

I'm trying so hard to not getting a couple of chickens, Grace. I know of some where the owner would be glad for me to take them and I'm deffo considering them. I gave my last couple to my sister as my neighbour was threatening to poison them, but he's gone now and all the current folk in the street are lovely.

We've got a big garden now, a chap at the other end of the estate has a few and they just wander all over. Have you had any bother with foxes? I think I read you can get fox proof houses for them now? Can't remember. We had them when we were kids and they all had their own little personalities, one used to jump in through the bedroom window and curl up on the bed with the cat for a nap (it was a bungalow, not a robot chicken ). Lol, glad they're all settling in together. I can see a little black one in the picture? At least I think it's a chicken lol x

The ginger fluffy one is one of my new ones, and a black one the same, silkies.the pic is what my daughter sent to tempt me,so the little black ones are still at the place we got them.you can get fox proof ones, but if a fox wants in,he 'll find a way,and they 're very expensive.I think the eglu brand say they 're fox proof.we hadn't had any trouble with foxes,as yet.but we have a big fence all round our yard.the ones in the main animal area are next to goats and dogs, which are both very vocal to any noise,so that's a decent deterrent.we are very remote on farm land so there s certainly foxes about.it's just something you have to live with I suppose.but it's great to see their characters.
