Wasn't there something about the Argos model? They have less shop floor space and more 'storeroom' so attract less rates I think.

No idea, I only ever bought things in store. I think Rymans are next. Supermarkets sell the basics, and people are using paper less and less.

Being able to receive click and collect from ebay might go in Argos favour. Ebay must pay something for the service I would have thought.

Click and collect must pay them, they wouldn't do it otherwise. Argos was bought out by sainsburys and there moving a lot of the Argos shops into sainsburys. Longer opening time for Argos as its now the same as the supermarket hours.

No idea, I only ever bought things in store. I think Rymans are next. Supermarkets sell the basics, and people are using paper less and less. Rymans are bloody expensive, I can't imagine why anybody shops there. Pound shops are brilliant for stationery, and lots of other things too. Don't underestimate pound shops, they are cutting a swathe through prices, but the shops are all like a glorified jumble sale. You have to go in regularly and just look at everything so you remember what is on offer for when you want something. Its almost like joining a secret buying club. Shhh, don't tell the public B+M is the same, I bought some cotton dust sheets in there for decorating my son's place when he moved in, and they were a quarter of the price of Homebase. Otherwise identical in quality, likewise rollers and paint brushes. But how many "muggles" just head to homebase or Rymans or where ever and never consider going to poundland? It always amazes me how garden centres get away with what they do

Being part of Sainsbury's means they probably don't have the rent liability many shops do. Having Argos in store is just a bit less stockroom, or less refrigerated display. As for poundshops, I love the Poundland chain. They are ruling the roost since they bought out the 99p chain and Poundworld went bust. On that subject, it's a bit worrying when pound shops go bust.
