Ok so today I was in a neighbouring town chilling with a homeless man with my djembe drum and tarot cards. Had a nice day.
Anyway homeless lad has recently joined the travellers church, mission of light or something of that description. He's been asking me to come along for a couple of weeks, I wasn't sure.
Then an Irish mum with three kids all under 5 (little buggers they were ) said I should come along tonight at 7pm. My son said this is a bad idea... But your never learn anything about life till you try something at least once. Has anyone got any experience of Irish/Scottish travellers... I mean I've had run ins with them before, I even gave one of them a bollocking for something he did and he turned and shook my hand, always found them to be ok. Am I setting myself up for big problems or should I have a little faith in these people?
I am intrigued... but I don't need the curiosity killed the cat situation. What do you guys know of them?

Avoid .I had the travelling preacher man rockup at a Romany site I was staying on looking for new recruits. Asked me my veiws on Christianity , then went of in a temper and beat up his wife . It was january and they had a tiny campervan with a 6 month baby . He talked a few of the sites residents into becoming born agains , the main one a man with a lot of sins that needed forgivness , ie violence ,theft and a lot I did not care to know about. If you are not a Christian your self I would not bother .

I'm an ordained minister, 😂. My advice is love yourself and others, be happy and own yourself. You don't need an intermediary between yourself and any god. ♥️

Hello Corvus :-) Ordained minister huh sounds interesting. You must tell me more sometime. One my friends who has now sadly passed away was an ordained minister. He also had a thing about going to fetish parties too and when he grew his big black beard he looked like a member of the Taliban. Yes I think I was more intrigued by their culture than the religious side of stuff. Besides, I would always be an outsider to the travellers. After much thought and advice from here I reckon joining them would just grind me down.
Cornish Harry I have absolutely no idea what you are on about mate. :-)

I'm a Dudeist minister, Treestump, Church of the Latter Day Dudes, courtesy of the internet, as Harry said. It's a bit of an in joke, which I now realise that you were not privy to, for which sorry. I am a real minister and can legally perform weddings/funerals/whatever, same as any more conventional priest, though; I'm just way cooler than most😎.

I just had a read about Dudeism too, and I found this quote from another reader:
"It has always seemed strange to me... the things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second. John Steinbeck"
