I Both Saw And Heard About This And To Me There Is A Big Differences Between Hunting Animals/Fish/Birds For Food To Feed And Cloth You And Your Family To Survive And To Keep Warm As Only What Is Needed Is Taken And The Kill Is Swift And Everything Is Used And That Animal Will And Can Feed You And Family A Long Time And No Other Life Is Taken Because It Is A Matter Of Survival That You Only Kill What You Need And NOT For Profit Or Greed Or Money Etc Etc Nope Like Any Predator They Will Only Kill For Food And Survival And Nothing Is Wasted Everything Is Used/Eaten. So To Kill This Beautiful Animal Or Any Animal Or Any Living Thing Just For Body Parts Like Tusks And Horns For Ivory And Fur Just For Fashion Or Sport Hunting Trophies Etc Etc Is NOT Survival In Any Shape Or Form Nope That Is Greed And Selfish Reasons And Is Sadly Wiping Out These Beautiful Animals And Sooo Many Animals That This World Of Man Has Been Gifted With Sadly  So Was I Sad Or Upset NOOOO I Was Not ... I Was Happy That This Has Happened Because It Also Shows That “When You Take On Nature And Push Her To Her Limits She Will Defend Herself And Fight Back With Everything She Has Even Though Humans Are The ToApex Predator Not Because Of Hunting Skills And Powerfulness Etc Nope Humans Are Only The Top Apex Predator Because Of Mans World COWARDLY Weapons Which All Animals No Matter How Giant And Powerful That Animal Might Be They Cannot Fight Against A BULLET/BULLETS Etc .. And Why I Sadly Feel Soooo Much Sadness That MAN And Mans World Are The Top Apex Predator Because All They Are Are COWARDS With There Weapons Of Destruction And WHY I Wish That SOMETHING Will Come Along That HUNTS MAN And Is The NEW Apex Predator As Tgen MAN And MANS WORLD Would Know What It Is Like To Be Hunted And Killed By Something That They Cannot Fight Against Just Like Our Beautiful Animals That Cannot Fight Or Beat Or Survive Mans World Guns And Weapons Of Destruction . But Happily Every Now And Then Mans World And Man Does Pay That Price And There Guns Are No Good To Them Because The TRUE APEX POWERFUL PREDATOR Gets That Chance To Show Mans World How Powerful Nature Can Be As She Releases Her Powerful Hunters And They Seek And Hunt And Kill And EAT MAN hahahahaha  And I Loved The Fact That Also How Both These Beauriful Powerful Animals The Elephant And The Lion Worked Almost Side By Side And Together In Showing Man This Is What Will Happen And Is Going To Happen More Often If They Get The Chance Because Nature Seems To Be Changing And Shifting In That They Not FEAR MAN And There Guns And They WILL AND ARE FIGHTING BACK |

I suspect the real story is different. Some fat Chinese businessman can't get an erection to shag a teenager forced into prostitution, and on the other side of the world an African widow is wondering how to feed her children.

You all know that I'm vegan, and abhor killing our fellow animals, but I'm with Boaty on this.
Poacher is an emotive word, the reality is likely some raggy arsed, poverty stricken bloke taking the risk while some rich twat gets the rewards

It's not that I disagree with boaty or corvus. It's the way to the means that I object to.
It's like saying I don't have a job so I must steal to survive.
Sorry, but there's always an element of choice with human actions.
I know Africa is very different to the UK. I am not saying it's that simple in Africa.
There will be poachers that are feeding starving families. They are the ones shooting or trapping a buffalo.
But there's no big bucks in a buffalo carcass.
To shoot an elephant or rhino and take a chainsaw to the tusks or horn isn't about starvation.

Poacher is what they are,theyre poachers by occupation,its easier money than doing what the rest of their community peers are doing,working for a living in a more traditional legal manner.
No different to drug dealers really.They can make an average living like everyone else but choose to go for broke in a more lucrative market.
They even get jobs in the big touristy wildlife parks so they learn where the herds hang out.
Kill the market and demand for ivory (or animal parts) the demand shrinks theyre out of a job.
The element i find more frustrating is that the countries where these parks are put minimal resources into tracking the gangs of poachers and the kingpins (most likely local politicians and businessmen) but encourage the multi million dollar staged big game hunting operations as 'valuable income' for the parks.
Hypocrisy much?

Whoa! Commercial big game hunting is a whole other objectionable subject. From a financial point of veiw, you would think the companies would stop the poaching...

My impression was that even the well protected grounds had poachers risking their necks to get in for ivory. And on top of the poachers there seem to be plenty of people here who agree with it, stating that the beasts are a pest in one way or another. Seems incredibly sad to me, they're such beautiful emotional animals.
On a similar note I've heard of people 3D printing fake ivory which looks like the real thing to trick the trade into lowering prices. Hope this helps. People have also tried dying the tusks with various colours and poisons to put poachers off the product.

Except That This Time It Was The Animals Themselves That Defended Themselves And Killed The Hunter/Poacher Which Obviously They Never Thought Would Never Happen In The First Place.
I Am An All Animal Lover And Would Protect And Help All Animals And It Upsets Me Deeply When Any Animal Is Killed Or Injured Etc...BUT I Do Understand That Just As In The Animal Kingdom And All Our Wild Animals That They Have To Kill To Eat To Survive From Land Animals To Sea Animals To The Sky Animals Many Have To Hunt And Kill To Eat To Survive
