Bonjour mes amis ( hello my friends),
I sadly announce to you the sad news that I have learned this week in that I shall very soon have to send cockney upto the spirit in the sky. He has been suffering a bit of late and I have seen a big decline in his health over the last six months.
I took him to the vet a few days ago and It turns out that he has got a large prostate and a hernia forming that has pushed his rectum out of form making toileting next to impossible. I have got him on steroids to try and help a little and parrafin oil ( not the burning type ) to help soften his stools and now he is just trying to crap all the time, but it just sort of makes it out and drips down his bum. He has also got an infection that is causing him problems.
I was hoping to take him on one more travel aruond france to say goodbye to friends who he loves, but am now thinking that I may have to offer him the ultimate kindness next week and take the suffering away from him.
As an 11 year old swiss sheppard with arthritis and a drooping back end,I believe that putting him through the stress of a mage operation will be too much for him and not to mention bloody expensive too,so am quite sure that I am going to get him send off to wherever good dogs go next week.
This is not a whinge from an upset friend however, but moreso a celebration for a dog that has lived a superb life.
Cockney on our travels has run across every moutain range in europe (except in scotland),he has played with wolves, had a face off with a bear and has had a life befitting of such a cool guy. ( lets just forget his dominance problems for now !! )
I shall no doubt find it a bit strange to begin with not having him there to begin with having lived in a yurt and two vans with him in the last ten years, but will also find solace in the lack of responsibility and the upgraded freedom that will come from his passing,so for sure there will be plenty of positives coming from his demise, though needless to say I would put those off for longer if it did not mean him having to suffer, which I shall not prolongate.
I thought that I would let you guys know as you have heard much of our travels together and will feel like you sort of know the old fella.
I shall let you know when the kindness has been done.
These photos are just a few of many that shows you how cool his life has been,so please raise a glass to the great life my four footed friend has led.
Love and light to you all
Fly and cockney xx
I shall add a few more soon xx
