People dont dump tents and camping stuff for any other reason than they cant be fucking arsed to clear up after themselves. They dont need an excuse theyre bone idle.
Thousands of bikes get left at the desert fire festival for the same reason.
Its the disposable world we live in no one gives a shit, certainly not many of the over privileged youngsters because non of them have had to struggle to afford basic things like older generations have had to. They know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Their attitude is 'oh well we'll just buy another (or mummy and daddy will) and some other fucker on a slave wage zero hour contract can clean up our mess '
One thing positive about the coming recession and brexit it will teach them how to struggle.

Just shows the amount of selfish turds that attend these festivals. No moral fibre yet half would talk bollocks about being green, saving the world and so on. Complete and utter tossers.
The amount of shit left behind not even bagged, not counting the junkies needles, bottles of piss or faeces is just unbelieveable never mind the abandoned tents. What sort of generation is doing this FFS.

Festival = get off your face for a weekend and don't worry about the mess.

Festival = get off your face for a weekend and don't worry about the mess. Hi all - haven't been around much lately but have seen these festie pictures online over the last few weeks. It disgusts me, but also baffles me as, many years ago when I used to go off with my friends to raves and parties heaven only knows where, we'd all get completely nutted - but we still didn't leave a mess behind? Probably ciggie butts, but I don't remember looking at a place at the end of the night/day/weekend and thinking, "My God, what a state". Everyone was a bit hippy and environmentally aware, at least where rubbish was concerned?
I do wonder if the 'mainstreaming' of festivals is part of the problem? They've been made more comfortable so the kind of people who wouldn't have gone years ago (the kind who expect someone else to do everything for them) turn up in their droves now. I wonder if they went back to very basic facilities if it would sort out the wheat from the chaff? But I think something similar was discussed on another thread and I think it was you (Vannie) that pointed out their profits would drop so no-one would be interested. Whatever the reasons, it disgusts me - I get equally miffed at the state of the cinema after a film when so many people just walk out and leave all their rubbish lying on the floor for someone else to pick up. I just can't understand the difficulty of putting something in a bin when you've finished with it (or folding your tent back up and putting it back in your car). There was the time that I was a bit all over the place and started dismantling someone else's tent by mistake but they saw the funny side Lol x

That's the bit I really object to; anything cheap won't have come from a sustainable source, whoever put it together will have been paid a crap amount to do so, the woman in the supermarket selling it is probably not earning big bucks either and yet there isn't even an appreciation for the fact something's cheap because other people haven't done well out of it financially. There just seems to be a disconnect for some people with what's on the shelf, what the process is to make it and what happens to it after you've finished with it. There are some lazy feckers around and just chucking stuff or dumping it seems to be almost like a status symbol with some people? Kind of saying, "I don't need to worry about buying another on of these because I can afford to".
On a different note I do know a couple of people who went to Boomtown this year (which was a disgusting state afterwards) and they're very green and were picking up rubbish all weekend and helping load up tents and so on. The trouble is the good ones just get so overwhelmed by all the arseholes their good efforts don't really make a dent in it

givingitsomethought you are living up to your name! I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's the entitlement culture that allows some people to think "I can do what I want, it's my right". Those are unfortunately are in the majority of those who attend festies these days.

There's an argument for putting them in stocks in the High Street, wearing pink ballet kit and clowns shoes, see how cool that looks on their instagram. And as they're obviously not responsible enough to own bicycles confiscate them.
