US man builds bunkerArk Two Shelter contains over 50 rooms built into 42 buried school buses. At 10,000 sq ft, it is one of Canada's largest nuclear fallout shelters. 42 buses!!

Waste of 42 potential motorhomes.
Often wondered what Hagrid looked like.

With all the publicity that project falls at the first hurdle - secrecy. I have always been fascinated by the American survivalist websites. Mainly because I am attracted by the idea of hiding away and living in secret. The reality is though a lot of them are out and out dreamers with very little grip on reality. If there was a SHF (shit hits fan) event such as a major disaster there would be millions of desperate starving people (with guns!) wanting your stash of food and more than willing to kill you to get it.
People post things like "Our family will be OK we have some land and can grow our own food" very nieve in my view.
You would have to disappear completely, somewhere the hoards won't find you. Could be a good thread

So within a few years they will be all rotting away quite nicely, and the whole underground complex will be mouldy, smelly and uninhabitable, with the occasional roof caving in. Or is underground different there than it is here?

Underground is only good if there is an all out nuclear war, in which case most of the population would be dead or dying with radiation poisoning and all the buildings would be reduced to rubble, even I am not preparing for that as I don't think its survivable. I don't like underground structures in general, too claustrophobic and you cant see whats going on above ground and you would be at a disadvantage if some one found you while you were underground. as for the "millions of starving people" give it a month maybe two and most people would be dying of starvation, dehydration and most of all disease, disease will kill more people than people will.

They will be eating each other to survive which means anybody still alive after 2-3 months will be a killer/cannibal and too dangerous to get into any form of proximity to. These are the Zombies of computer games etc.

yeah right! maybe in London they will! I've never believed in the cannibal scenario, too far fetched, most are too squeamish and I wonder what diseases you can catch from that activity? computer games aren't real life, but many people seem to think they are( I think they might be in for a bit of a shock post SHTF).
