www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/litter-therese-coffey-michael-gove-defra-singapore-environment-a8282906.html Personally I'm pissed off with the amount of litter along our verges, in laybys and on the beaches. I still see fag ends and sweet wrappers thrown from car windows on a regular basis, didn't realise they'd stopped fitting ashtrays to the twunts vehicles and as for the crap left behind by travellers who take over public land and get away with it scot free. That just drives another nail into the coffin of being allowed to live on the road and tars everyone with the same brush. I've picked up stuff, depending what it is and binned it on parkups in the past as I don't want the blame or to look out on it but does this latest measure go far enough or too far.

I doubt it will do anything to tackle rural mess. The lane past me is hardly used but its always stocked regularly with KFC McD cartons cups etc empty bottles and cans of booze paint wallpaper and the occasional mattress or settee...i doubt the threat of 150 quid fine will stop them. Just be a money making excuse in towns and cities. Its personal attitudes that need to change.Folks chuck rubbish because theyre too lazy to deal with it themselves and think someone else will clear it up. You dont see masses of rubbish in Germany and some other countries.

I'm sceptical too. Also it comes to mind that some might use it as an excuse to get rid of you or stop you coming back to a park up.

I park near a Burger King and the amount of litter is ridiculous, folk park next to the bin and just chuck it out the window rather than walk across the pavement. They should get points as well

I think its a great idea!We recently visited Heathrow Airport, and my god,the litter around the entrance is disgusting!I wonder what visitors to the UK think when they leave the airport and thats their first impression of the UK!Even Delhi airport is cleaner than Heathrow.

I was once taken to court for a littering offence (not guilty i must add!) What struck me was that I was in court charged with dropping a fag end in a car park, while I waited to get dealt with, I popped outside for a smoke. Literally outside the main entrance and in full view of at least 5 cctv cameras, I couldn't move for fag ends just thrown everywhere but in the bins provided! If people don't care outside a court house what chance is there they will care anywhere else?
